Our Story

Luxury soy candles with a fabulously vintage twist… for those who enjoy a bit of glamour in their home.

Hand poured in Sussex, All our candles are vegan friendly and made with the finest fragrance oils

The Black Cat Candle Company is essentially a team of three. Jamie (that's me!) who hand pours each and every candle and reed diffuser you’ll receive from us; Sam (my husband and partner of eleven years) who gets the vote mainly on the scents and wades in to help with decisions when I can’t decide (sticker placement and packaging colours are very important!), and lastly Jinxy. Jinx is the figurehead of the company, quite literally. She’s the cat behind the little logo you’ll find on all of our products, and she’s definitely the definition of a sleeping partner. No seriously, she’s sleeping on the dining table next to me as I write this!

The Black Cat Candle Company was born out of a desire to find candles and diffusers that not only smell good, but smell amazing! The sort of candle you can smell not just when it’s burning, but that you get little whiffs of even when it isn't. The sort of diffuser that gives you weeks of genuine fragarnace joy, and that you smell every time you pass it. We have all bought a product in the past either because it looked great, then smelt of nothing, or smelt amazing at first, but then lost it’s scent. Here at The Black Cat Candle Company our products will have you sniffing them and saying ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ right down to the last drop of wax!

Another big factor was to create the types of candles (and reed diffusers!) that look great in your home. I’m obsessed with home-ware (this isn’t a letter of confession!) and I wanted to create products that make you want to buy and add to the carefully curated pieces in your home. I know we spend time and effort dressing our homes with pieces that we enjoy, things that makes us happy or simply evoke a smile when we look at them. There’s no reason why home fragrance pieces can't do that too!

With glamorous interiors of yesteryear a passion of mine, I wanted to create products with a subtle nod to the by-gone days of the 20’s and 30’s, whether it be simply through our logo, scent combinations or finishing touches on our products. I wanted to make products that would suit all homes and decor tastes, but certainly wouldn’t look out of place in a lovingly styled vintage home.

Myself, Sam and Jinx thank you for visiting our page, and hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy creating them.
